St. Lucia Adventures

On Tuesday the 13th we woke up to this lovely view of the island of St. Lucia from our balcony.

We got ourselves ready and got off the boat to look around.

St. Lucia is mountainous and jungley so we decided to take a taxi tour around the island for a couple of hours. Francis was the first driver that got our attention. He was really funny and didn't over charge us.

Francis drove us around and told us all about St. Lucia. It really is a beautiful island. I love all the French, British and Dutch influences in all architecture on all the islands in the West Indies. The buildings on this island were especially fun in color and decoration as you can see.

Here is an overlook of the bay where our boat was docked.

Francis drove us around through the college campus on the island which us mostly made of old army barracks from when the British and French occupied the island. David loved hearing all about the history. He likes history. Here he is in front of part of the college.

The college campus is also home to this park/memorial about the British and French occupation.

It had pretty jungle views.

And canons and a HUGE mango tree.

Francis drove us around some more and we stopped at this pretty overlook. David is pretty good at selfies! His arm is longer than mine.

Last stop on the tour was Francis' favorite beach. It was pretty, but a little steep. This beach is north of the port and in a more touristy area of the island. There was a huge difference.

We weren't at the beach long because David wanted to get back to the ship. They were allowing a limited amount of people onto the ship's helipad in the very front of the boat to watch it leave port. Here is David on the helipad. The crew had a little helicopter toy on the center of the H on the helipad. They thought it was so funny for some reason and were very upset when the ships photographer stepped on it accidentally.

I'm the king of the world! Well, almost.

It was neat to watch us sail out to sea.

We both worked out then got ready for dinner, of course. First course appetizers. The cocktail sauce for that shrimp cocktail (not pictured) was amazing.

Bacon wrapped filet mignon came after salads. That green side is a pea mash. So good. Seriously. The others are curry mashed potatoes and some yams or something. All very good.

Creme brulee for dessert.

After dinner we walked around like we usually did, but eventually made our way to the pool deck for a 10pm fruit and ice cream buffet. It was so pretty. All sorts of sculptures made out of fruits!

That first watermelon is a profile of a face and the one behind it is a flower with a lovely melon bunny in the foreground.

How cute is this owl?

I love the use of broccoli in this bird.

It was all pretty amazing. The best was the mango sorbet. While the buffet was going on the house party band was playing and part of the crew was really getting into it in the front especially the head chef! That's him in the front. He was standing on a pillar twirling around. I was afraid he would fall, but he didn't.

We left the party shortly after I took this picture and went to bed.

  2. Oh my goodness! That is hilarious. I hope she isn't scared for life by thinking those were fingers.
